Frequently Asked
Questions
Starting therapy or trying a new therapeutic approach can bring up many questions. Here you'll find clear details about getting started, session logistics, payment, and what to expect during our work together.
Getting Started
Do I have to be Christian to work with you?
No. My practice welcomes women from all backgrounds. Faith integration is always optional and only included if it aligns with your goals and preferences.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like you're carrying more than you can hold alone, therapy can help. You don't need a crisis or a diagnosis to benefit from support — many women come simply because they're ready for something to feel different.
What happens in a consultation?
The consultation is a brief, no-pressure conversation where we get to know each other. You'll share a little about what brings you to therapy, and I'll explain how I work so we can decide together whether it feels like a good fit.
How do I know if an intensive is right for me?
During your consultation we'll discuss your goals, history, schedule, and determine together whether weekly sessions or an intensive experience is the best fit.
What if I've never done therapy before?
That's completely okay. We'll go at your pace, and I'll walk you through what to expect at each step. There's no "wrong way" to begin.
Logistics & Scheduling
Are telehealth appointments available?
Yes. Secure telehealth appointments are available throughout the state of Florida for clients who prefer remote therapy.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Yes. While telehealth is available statewide across Florida, limited in-person availability is offered at our Fleming Island office.
How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Some prefer the focused pace of a therapy intensive instead. We'll figure out what fits your life and your goals during your consultation.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.
How long are sessions?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Extended 90-minute sessions are also available for deeper processing or EMDR work, along with 1-day and 2-day therapy intensives for those wanting more concentrated support.
Payment & Insurance
Do you accept insurance?
This practice is self-pay, allowing therapy to remain personalized, private, and focused entirely on your treatment goals rather than insurance requirements.
Can I use out-of-network benefits?
Yes — upon request, I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so I'd recommend checking with your insurer directly.
What forms of payment do you accept?
HSA/FSA cards, debit, and credit cards are accepted.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are not using insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before treatment begins. Learn more about Good Faith Estimates.
Therapy Approach
What is EMDR, and how does it work?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity. Many clients find it allows them to move forward with greater peace, confidence, and emotional freedom.
Is EMDR right for everyone?
Not necessarily — readiness for EMDR depends on your history, goals, and where you are in your healing process. We'll discuss whether it's a good fit for you together, and there's no pressure to move faster than feels right.
What other approaches do you use besides EMDR?
My work is trauma-informed and evidence-based, drawing on approaches tailored to each client's needs and pace. Every treatment plan is personalized rather than one-size-fits-all. I often incorporate modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Will I have to talk about things I'm not ready to talk about?
No. You are always in control of your pace. Healing happens safely — not by force.
Therapy Intensives
What is a therapy intensive?
An intensive is an extended block of therapy time — either a single day or two days — designed for women who want meaningful progress without waiting months of weekly sessions. It includes built-in breaks for rest and reflection, and a clear aftercare plan.
Who are intensives best for?
Women navigating complex trauma, major life transitions, or those who want focused, concentrated progress — as well as women with limited time for ongoing weekly therapy but who still want deep, meaningful work.
What happens after an intensive ends?
You'll leave with a personalized aftercare plan and recommendations for continued support, whether that means periodic check-ins, weekly sessions, or simply integrating what you've learned on your own.
Confidentiality & Safety
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share in session is protected by confidentiality laws, with a few limited legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult) — I'll review these with you at the start of our work together.
What should I do if I'm in crisis right now?
If you are in crisis or experiencing a mental health emergency:
Please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), available 24/7, or go to your nearest emergency room.
